CFLA-FCAB develops and promotes its library community's positions on copyright; oversees the development of appropriate positions and supporting documentation and strategies; and fosters the optimal degree of collaboration and alignment on copyright advocacy across the Canadian library communities.

CFLA-FCAB is reviewing existing Canadian Library Association guidelines and position papers to determine their relevance to the challenges facing our library communities today, and will be updating them as required and releasing them for the community on an ongoing basis.

CFLA-FCAB is promoting initiatives in all types of libraries to advance reconciliation by supporting the Truth and Reconciliation Commission Calls to Action and to promote collaboration in these issues across the Canadian library communities.

The CFLA-FCAB Intellectual Freedom Committee advocates for the value of intellectual freedom in Canada and to develop policies, guidelines, and reports to inform Canadians on the importance of intellectual freedom.

As part of our commitment to intellectual freedom, CFLA-FCAB supports the Annual Challenges Survey of materials and services challenged in Canadian libraries. The survey creates a national snapshot of the nature and outcome of challenges to intellectual freedom in publicly-funded Canadian libraries. By documenting and reporting these incidents, Canadian libraries demonstrate their commitment to public accountability and institutional transparency.

The CFLA-FCAB Cataloguing and Metadata Standards Committee advises the Board on developing and promoting its library communities' positions on cataloguing and metadata standards and issues. They oversee the development of appropriate position statements and supporting documentation and strategies.
