The CFLA-FCAB Intellectual Freedom Committee has been hard at work and in light of the current state of censorship attempts in Canada have proactively drafted the following letter that the CFLA-FCAB board approved to send to related federal Ministers. It primarily seeks to remind Ministers of this important topic and to urge the Government of Canada to take a firm stance on the right guaranteed under Section 2(b) of the Charter. As the rhetoric about removing books has begun to appear in provincial governments and other sectors across the information field, there is also the attached generic letter that we encourage other associations, professionals, or other interested parties to use as inspiration for their own advocacy efforts. As stated in the letter, CFLA-FCAB stands ready to work collaboratively to address these challenges.
